Malayu Sibat is a spear in made from bamboo, or from Bahi, Kamagong or Malave (iron woods of the Philippines) This particular one in the picture below is made of sharpened bamboo. The Malayu Sibat is used by the Filipino natives to hunt wild boars as well as other animals and also used for fishing. The Malayu Sibat is of course additionally used as offensive weapon against attacking tribes. The downward smashing blow of the Malayu Sibat is usually followed up with a violent thrust aiming for the eyes, throat or stomach area as well as other vital areas on the body. 
 
This Filipino spear is commonly called "sibat" in  most Filipino dialects as well as in the Indonesian language. In other Filipino dialects it is called the Karasaik, Bangkaw or Sumbiling or Palupad.
